He people,

Ive got a couple more months of snow before i can bring my car back into the light, at which time i have to fix the problem it had when i put it into hibernation. I was 3/4 of the way back from a 1200 km journey from Britsh Columbia to Fort Mac. I made it to athabasca (for those of you who know the area) stoped to grab some food and use the little boys room came back out ready to go. Fired up the car and took off. Right away i noticed that it sounded different. then i hit the hill and the power was at about 30 %. Im thinkin clogged injectors, clogged fuel filter something on these lines, hoped is porbably a better discription. I only think that cause in BC they had 100 octane or something outrageous so i tryed it. maybe not a good idea. Anyways if anyone has expericed this or similar happenings feel free to let me know what you think is wrong with my baby.
Thanks guys n girls if there is any. Happy new year.

the higher octane will do less harm than anything, I would first check your spark, and ign timing

Sounds like you may have gotten some water in the gas. Get some gasline drier and dump it in and hope your lines didn't freeze and pop.

Nice to know there is a 924 way up in Fort Mac...

I would tend to agree with the post that suggested checking the timing. "Bogging Down" occured in my car when I played with the timing and didn't have enough of an advance. Is there any chance the nuts securing the distributor bracket shook loose during your road trip? This could cause the distributor to move and adversely affect your timing. Could be an easy fix, just grab your timing light, twist your distributor to reset the timing and fasten it back down. If it's not that, check your plug wires didn't shake lose or overheat where they come close to the exhaust manifold (maybe you're running on 3 cylinders). Check the simple little things first, you might get lucky.

Well my car used to do that exact same thing when the alternator belt was begining to slip.

Reach down (engine off) and push reasonably hard on the alternator pulley. If you can spin it even a little with out the belt moving along with it. Then you need to tighten the belt. Some times a larger thickness belt or slightly smaller diameter belt is in order. I know I did this once to cure the problem with out putting to much stress on the alternator or water pump bearings.

Anyway hope that helps.

You didn't back it into a pile of snow when you parked, did you?
(Here I go with that old theory again. )

Hey speeddemon didnt you know americans think that as soon as we hit the border it is a wall of snow and that they drive through a tunnel to get to the top, oh yah we have no running water or plumbing as it would freeze, and we also dont have electricity (but we can access the net and post replies, they havent figured out how that works yet) but now you have let it out of the bag, curse you

Hey Lizard, while we were on the Caribean cruise, we shared a table with a couple from the Calgary area every night. We really liked them and plan to stay in touch. So, when I got home to five inches of snow, I checked there weather, and it was -31F in Calgary.

My last visit to Fort Mac, I encountered the Mounties and city limits unexpectedly. Cost me $140.00 for the ticket. It was the end of May and there was still snow in the ditches.
