I have an 82 924 which I have had resprayed - any ideas what colour the original decals would have been - The car is British Racing Green.

The old decals had been taken off when I got the car - I'm not sure if black would show up very well and think that maybe silver is too bold.

I want to put the car back to original condition so would prefer to put back what was on the car originally.

Thanks

Russ

Stickers ... You dont mean like the little porsche letters that go under the rear tailights it comes in all colors. Check out porsche graphics..
your color I would think is 'white'. Check out the link I found quickly using google. It has alot of stickers the 911 early ones for there fronts are just about the same as the 924 rears. Theres alot of turbo stickers. The best is for last they have all models of our cars stickers made to fit the bottem
of our door jambs.

If you look in The Original Porsche..... book by Peter Morgan, there is a
red 1983 924 with black decals. The '924' decal just below the rear hatch is almost impossible to see. If the decal was silver the contrast would be much higher, yet it must be original. In my opinion silver would be
a bit flashy. The PET only lists silver and black as possible colours.

I bought my black '924' decal from Prestige Parts in the UK, as it was no longer available at the Dealer, and it looks exactly like the one in the Morgan book. Looks very neat!! Take your time to put it on, though.
I have a miniature crease in the 2

My 80 924 is mocha black [sort of like black coffee] so is about as dark as BRG. It came with gold decals and an ugly gold pinstripe right around the body that killed the beautiful lines of the car and made it look like a Mitsubishi.

After my respray I replaced the rear decals in gold but not the pinstripe. The 924 decal looks great in gold but the PORSCHE decal is a bit flashy but then again that's how the factory presented their cars. Some orignal paint and decal schemes were a total disaster, like dayglo 911s for instance.

Black on green car really. Gold
looks flashy like silver. For my car black is the choice.

Colors for '82 didn't include a "British Racing Green", only one shade of a metallic (and I'm not familiar with it). So, given it's not an original color, go for whatever you like the best.
I cast my vote for silver or white.

Paint Colors - 1982

Standard Colors -
Alpine white L90E
Gambia red LA3B
Havana brown LD8A
Guards red LM3A
Mocha black LM9V
Mauritius blue LY5A
Gaboon gray LY7A

Special Colors -
Diamond silver metallic L97A
Surinam red metallic LA3Y
Lhasa green metallic LA6V
Light blue metallic LM5Z
Black metallic LM9V
Platinum metallic LM8U
Meteor grey metallic LY7Z

Two-Tone Colors -
Main Color (Top).......Second Color (Bottom)
Alpine white.......Gaboon gray
Platinum metallic.......Havana brown
Diamond silver met. .......Meteor grey metallic
