OK so I'm new to all this. My other vehicle is a 35 year old ex military landrover so a 23 year old porsche is a bit of a leap in technology for me! (the landrover is usually fixed with a lump hammer!! )
Anyway it runs hot, this seems to be a common problem. I have identified that the radiator temp switch is iffy (got it out and tested it twice in a pan of water and it worked one of the two times).
To get me by until the new one arrives I have rigged a bypass into the cockpit so when the temp gets up i flick a switch and the fan comes on.
However, the switch is still live even with the ignition off and the radiator cool. Should that be so?? I know there is a relay that keeps it live for a while after switching off, could this also be failed and stuck open?
cheers

the temp swith in the rad is actually a ground closing point, there are 2 relays 1 is for when ign on, the other ign off, both though are grounded through that temp switch in the rad, 1 is just straight power, the other has a resistor in it to limit power used so the battery doesn't go dead _________________ 3 928s, |

The wire stays hot so the fan can cycle on after the car is shut off if the temp is still high. You're fine.
