What tool is needed to remove the CV joings, looks like a 12 point or something.
Also, to remove the discs, is it a 36mm socket? My friend had a 34mm, but even that didn't fit. _________________ 1979 Porsche 924 "S"

The axles are held on by 8mm 12-point bolts. You do not need to remove the 36mm nut that holds on the disc brake hub to remove the discs. If your car has a spacer, slide it off, then remove the discs. They are held on by a couple Phillips-head screws. If there is no spacer, you should be able to see the screws once the wheel is off. The cars with no spacer should be '85.5-up 944 and 924S models.
When you try to remove the axle bolts, make sure you hammer the tool into the head of the bolt to prevent stripping them. _________________ Jon Furst |

| On the 12 point bolts, it sometimes helps to "wake them up" by taking a punch and hammer and tap along the outside of the bolt heads before trying to remove them. |

I needed a breaker bar to get the axel nuts off. Also if you are planning on cleaning and repacking the CV joints I would recomend several cans of parts cleaner, some gloves and lots of rags. Its a messy job. _________________ 1981 924 NA

still can't help but smile when you see one tumble down the stairs. |
