| I was fortunate enough to come across a distributor of the old style which has a much more desirable mechanical advance curve. How would I go about fitting it into my system? The '82 has an electrical cable going to the dist for the Hall Effect sensor (?)... the older dist has no such provision. |

| It may be easiest to move the advance weights and springs from the old distributor to the new. |

| News dist from my 82 has the wires going to it. Old one from the '77 has no wires. I assume because it is from a car that originally had points? Transfering the weights sounds like a good idea, is it very difficult to do? |

| I've never done it on a Porsche dizzy, but on others. Basically you take it out, strip down the layers of hall sensors and rotors and mounting plates untill you see the weights on the shaft. At this point you can just change them using special bosch grease to lubricate the weight pivots. You may have to pull the whole shaft out which will require removing the drive gear at the bottom. There will probably be lots of little screws and clips and secret spacers etc. Keep good notes and pictures. There is a critical gap between the sensor and the rotor. You could also bring it to a distributor shop for a quote and maybe even an opinion if the retrofit will work. |

I've tried several time to tear down a 924 dizzy, I'm beginning to think it can't be done without destroying it.
Porsche replaces it as a unit. |

getting the hall effect sensor off the shaft is the distributor housing is not an easy task to do, what you might have to do is freeze the center shaft w/ liquid nitrogen or dry ice, that MIGHT make enough clearence to pull the hall effect sensor off, _________________ 3 928s, |
