Pretty much what the title states.. I am transferrring my 1980 931 snailshell to my automatic 924S and want to know that I am at lest not going SMALLER with my torsion bar sizing... (ie- 1980 931 bars are going with the rear suspension into the S)

The '80 931 has a 14mm rear bar, and the '87 924S could have a 14 or 20mm rear bar. Option M030 (Sport suspension) got a 20 mm rear and 23 front stabilizer. The stock front bar on the '87 924S was 20mm with an optional 23mm, wheras the 931 had varying configurations: 20, 21, 21.5 or 23. _________________ '79 Eurospec 931 |

I believe they were both 23.5mm except for the M030 924S's. I'm guessing those were probably 24.5mm like the early M030 944's.

Oops, mis-read "torsion bar" as "sway bar".
According to PET, the '80 924/931 had a 22mm bar up to SN 92A0430198, and then a 23.5mm bar after that. -Nick's got the 87 924S info right, it had a 23.5mm bar standard, but a 24.5mm bar as part of the M030 Sport Suspension package. _________________ '79 Eurospec 931 |

Wouldn't it be easier to sell the trans to a needy 80 931 owner and just install a regular 944 5-speed??? No torque tube or suspension swap needed... _________________ Vaughan Scott

Aw man, easy isn't in my vocabulary!
Besides, I actually WANT the LSD G31 in my 924S (soon turboS)
I have a nice 3sp auto for sale, though... _________________ keith
