Finally received my new tires. It had to be while I'm away at school though, . Anyways, check out my cardomain page for pics of them and tellme what you think. BTW they are Falken Azenis Sports sized 205/50/15. I had to wait so long because they were sold out accross the country (really popular tire with autocrossers). I can't wait to get back home and take them out for a test run!! _________________ '87 924S Guards Red, Not stock anymore!

Good choice of tire, just don't drive that fast in the rain, unless you're REALLY into drifting
Nice sleepies, btw. |

Thanks for the advice. At least these tires are at full tread depth. I had my share of rain drifting with the old, balder tires. Also thanks for the comment on the headlights, it's amazing that some people would pay 90 bucks for the Pivot controller to do that for their 240sx. Oh well,to each his own... _________________ '87 924S Guards Red, Not stock anymore!

I thought about getting those ones but I decided to go with the FK451 instead as the aziens were not Z rated and I need Z rated for the 928 _________________ 3 928s, |

That's a good call on tire choice, Lizard. Considering the 924S won't see 150+ mph (unless engine transplant...) I wanted to go with the best grip for corners. After riding in a friend's miata equipped with the Azenis Sports, I was sold. _________________ '87 924S Guards Red, Not stock anymore!

I'm as of yet undecided on a tire... I figure I'll stick it out with the BFG T/A Euros on the car until some time after Christmas, swap them out for the trashcans with Comp T/As I have lined up, and then when I get some nice 17" wheels, I'll pick a new tire _________________ '81 931 in various states of assembly |

How did the different tire size affect the speedometer? How do you compensate for different tire sizes on these cars? _________________ Keep a Chevy motor in a Chevy

Dunno yet, Osiris, the damn tires had to come in while I'm away at school. My dad has taken it out and he says the car rides fine, dunno about speedometer's accuracy tho. Guess I'll have to test it when I get back for Fall Break...will keep you posted. _________________ '87 924S Guards Red, Not stock anymore!

Hey..are those stock phonedials that you have on your 924S or are they the 15x7 wheel. I need new tires aswell and would like to get a wider tire as i have 195 on all 4 corners at the moment. Is it possible to fit a larger tire on the wheel? _________________ 1987 Zermatt Silver Porsche 924S <-- Sold in Nov. '04

(From a post back in July...)
The tire size calculator on this site: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html will tell you all you need to know when you also provide the original stock tire size. Percentage off, MPH inaccuracy, all the dimensions, etc. Anyone on this site considering changing tires from OEM specs should be familiar with such a tool.
According to the Tech section, stock sizes for 4 bolt wheels were 165HRx14 or 185/70x14 depending on the rim width, and 205/60x15.
For the 5 bolt pattern, 185/70x15 or 205/55x16
The 924S had 205/65x15 and/or 205/55x16 _________________ '79 Eurospec 931 |

I still have the stock phonedials on my 924S, and I figured the speedometer would read too high. Using the calculator from CMXXXI, the speedo should read about 7.6% too fast. BTW, thanks for that link CMXXXI. Anyways I'll just have to add a speedometer recalibration to the to-do list when I get back for Fall Break. So, to answer Techno Duck's question, yes the Azenis Sports will fit on the stock phonedials on a 924S. Not only do they fit, but I think they look quite good as well . _________________ '87 924S Guards Red, Not stock anymore!

Thanks for the answer...i need new tires soon and was wondering if i could get something a bit wider than a 195. Im probably going to go with a set of Yokohama's as i need something that works in the snow as well. Thanks again. _________________ 1987 Zermatt Silver Porsche 924S <-- Sold in Nov. '04
