Has anybody come up with a good way to reinforce the floor at the rear mounts for the front seats?
I can't believe how weak that area is from the factory. Both of my front seats sank into the floor and cracked the metal. I'm not especially heavy though the PO (and passenger) may have been. My spare 931 has the same cracking. Yesterday, I welded some formed 12 ga sheet steel underneath the outboard rear mount to repair the cracks and strengthen the area. That helped and will prevent any future cracks but the entire floor under the front seats is still very flexible and I want to stiffen it up without adding a bunch of weight. I'm considering welding in some small flatbars to the recesses under the floor to stiffen it up. I was just wondering if anybody has run across this issue and come up with a stiff, lightweight way to do it. |

Depends on if your using the same seats with there runners..
I used angle iron welded together to form a 'U' shape
attaching it to the floor in the same spot as the runners ran.
I did this when I switched to light weight seats. _________________ 1979 porsche 924 Na

| Joe, how did that strengthen the floor? I'm not worried about the seat brackets or sliders, I'm concerned about the stifness of the floor itself. With your angle iron, can't you still press down on the area of the rear mounts and watch the whole floor flex? |
