hey guys,
Hi I'm new to the world of Porsche but man im neva eva eva eva eva goin back (well i hope not).
Ive started off with a nice little 1982 Porsche 924 NA. And although i would like around 120Kw, i think ill just put up with the 93Kw (that about 170 HP and 125HP respectively, Im from Australia we talk kilowatts:) ), because although i am fairly young i have never had or driven a car that handles like this... WOW!!!
Any way my idle has decided to jump to 1200 RPM (which in turn causes the oil pressure to go up to about 3 or 4 ), and was wondering if u guys had heard of this or know what it is. Any help appreciated and im fairly new to all this so tachnical but not to technical(if thats possible).
Any help much appreciated.....
Cheers,

Congrads and welcome to the world of P-cars.
I'm not too familiar with your year but I would suspect a vacuum line right off. Check to see if everything is connected under the hood, then you can progressively get more technical....I suggest getting a Haynes manual and start reading to get acquainted with the layout and set up of the car so when the help starts comming you will have an idea of where to go next...
Goo luck and enjoy... _________________ Dream as if you'll live forever.

welcome to a great P-car,
as for the idle, check the basics, timing, and air idle bypass screw _________________ 3 928s, |

| Also check to see if the idle stabilizer is plugged in. It is the little box on left front wheel arch under the hood with wires going to it. |

That box is the stabilizer unit?
I thought that was for the electronic points and advance.
I was told to disconnect the stabilizer unit when doing timing.
Should I have been disconnecting this unit?
I'm confused. _________________ 1978 924 95 mile daily driver.

Only the '81-up cars have the idle stabilizer. I don't believe the Euro/ROW cars ever got them, though I may be mistaken. _________________ Jon Furst |

Yes you disconect the idle stablizer to set timing, fuel mixture, and idle.
I agree with the vacuum leak causing the higher idle, also start with basic maintiance plugs, wires, rotor, cap, timing, and adjust idle. _________________ 1981 924 NA

the box on the 78 924 is the ignition control module, if you disconnect this you will get no spark _________________ 3 928s, |

I would recommend getting a haynes/chilton manual if you havent already, they do have a few errors, but I think the guys on the board have found pretty much everyone, the other thing to do is once you get a haynes learn to read the wiring diagrams trust me if you know how to read them 100% you will save SO much time instead of guessing with the wiring.
and yes alot of us guys/gals are knowledgable about the cars and alot of the times can get you an answer very quick _________________ 3 928s, |
