It's just a play on words, and I'm curious to see if anyone gets it "right".

Nobody want's a history lesson?

I see it this way:
anyone who truly loves Porsche's automobiles already knows. Anyone who is ignorant and owns a Porsche just becuase it's a lucrative name doesn't know sh!t about Porsche history and probably doesn't want to know becuase it would take too long and use too many long words.

ok now you are making me think

it could also be the 1939 Porsche 64 http://www.flat-6.net/view.php?model=64&sel=64&tab=oview

but the earliest was the 1938 Tractor Type 110 http://www.flat-6.net/view.php?model=Tractor&sel=Tractor+Type+110&tab=oview

Quote:
The history of the VW Car began as a dream of Ferdinand Porsche. He wanted to build a car that everybody could afford.

Quote:
Porsche accepted and a contract was signed in 1934 stating the delivery of three prototypes within ten month.

Porsche missed his deadline, but Hitler placed the whole project under government supervision. The three prototypes were eventually delivered in October 1936 and was called "W1". The next series of 30 cars built during 1937 was called VW 30.
