I think I might have figured ot why my 1978 924 wont start. When It was running the timing belt was squeaking bad, and I think that is why my Porsche always sound like it was going to stall at idle.

So I went out and bought a timing light, and I will try to see if that is hopefully the problem. Im thinking the Belt is bad. Any tips or suggestions for me ??

the timing belt itself wont squeek but the timing belt tensioner will, check out joes post he seems to like to break them he will know where to get one, but wouldn't hurt to change the belt at the same time

Yeah, timing belt squeek is most likely from shot bearings in the tensioner. Take a long screwdriver, and put it on the bolt of the tensioner while the car is on(or any non-moving part of the tensioner). Then put your ear to the screwdriver, if it's the same sound, it's the actual tensioner. Also, you say that you bought a timing light, but that's for ignition timing, not cam timing.
