has anyone seen a rear spoiler thats new for less than 600 dollars a peice since the dam thing is a three peice spoiler i called the porsche dealer and they want 500 bucks for each side peice and 600 dollars for the center peice.my other alternative is using fiberglass or carbon fiber wich is relatively easy but i want the original one since its so durable and besides i use it as a handle to open the 22 year old hatch since i havent adjusted it (no time ) _________________ wonder what this button does.......oh! |

You can usually find the three pieces of the factory spoiler for sale on eBay, or with a complete window hact with the frame and glass.
If your existing rear hatch does not or did not originally have the factory spoiler, then it does not have the holes for mounting the factory spoiler and you must purchase the rear hatch to be able to install the factory spoiler.
The spoiler is not meant to be a handle, and if you use it as such you will damage the hatch and/or the spoiler. |

If you really want to get it fast call:
Parts Heaven in Hayward or EASY (european auto salvage yard) in Emeryville. You may want to just upgrade to the 944 style while you are at it.
For less than $500 you could get a 968 style wing from 944racing.com
Other wise they sell on ebay for $50-100 all day long (the 944 larger style). |

| The 931/924S spoiler was not made very well. Why don't you upgrade to the 944 spoiler, They hold up much better in the sun. Plus you get more down force. |

I know that I saw the individual pieces for sale in one of the aftermarket catelogs, when i run accross them I will Post it. I have had a fair amount of luck with the heavier types of tire dressing (tire wetter, tire black) when detailing the spoiler on my 924S. (Amorall and the light interior stuff got embarassed by that job) It could very well take the better part of a bottle to get the thing into presentable condition. Allow the junk to soak in for a while and I think you may be surprised at the results of the pitting becomming less noticable. I did mine about a year ago and with regular upkeep it is holding up well enough to forgo replacing it.. You need to keep an eye on the run off though as it could stain the paint if left on the suface without regular cleaning. The only parts that I am considering replacing are the two side pieces as they are eroded in spots. Man! I hope I can find that catelog, the prices were resonable for the side pieces. I wasn't aware that the 944 had a diferent spoiler...any pics for comparison? what is the material make-up compared to the 924S?
Also, anyone looking for the rear hatch lock cylinder, Performance Products now has it in the catelog $57 and change. And...are there any locksmiths out there that can tell me if it is possible to re-key that cylinder to the original key, one of my peeves is too many keys in my pocket. _________________ Dream as if you'll live forever.

| Is the spoiler not only rioveted to the hatch frame but also glued to the glass, because i have a 944 spoiler and it doesn't seem to be attached on there all that well. |

The rear section is held on with screws, and the side pieces are held on with slotted nuts. There is no glue. Is your hatch from a car that was originally equipped with a spoiler? If it wasn't, that might explain the glue. _________________ Jon Furst |

| No there is no glue there. I was asking that because there wasn't and the fact that it doesn't seem to be held to the window all that great. I just swapped the whole 944 hatch w/ spoiler onto my 924. |
