I had an interesting experiece today at work.

A guy in a boxster came in this afternoon...... Of course we did the porsche chat thing..found out his is a 2002, dark blue in color, tan interior. very nice machine. I mentioned to him I was thinking of giving the boxster a try sometime at the dealers....Guess what he did,,.........He handed over his keys to me......But I was still working and I had to decline ...............There are some nice owners out there!!

Chris.

Can't you take breaks? That sucks!

Anyway, I hear they are overrated anyways.

Hmm, now a twin-turbo 911...or Cayenne...SEE YA LATER, BOSS!!!

Boxsters are more fun to drive through the twisties than an 911 or 924 turbo.

Never had a chance to drive a 911 turbo, but I'll bet they do not handle any better than the NA 911s.

modern 911 turbo comes with suspension options you'd kill for, it'll outhandle the boxter despite the mid engine layout.

As for the boxter itself, honestly, i hate' em, they're ugly as all freaking hell. However, i couldn't imagine too many other cars, especially in that price range, that handle even nearly as good at a boxter. If i were to get one though, it'd prolly be a black boxter S.

i'd expect a little more respect for the modern low-end porsche from a 924 site. however, i do understand that the boxster is sometime seen as a less macho car. but whatever stigma you want to attach to the car, the platform is unbeatable. the layout is almost a direct interpretation of that of the unequivocal 550 spyder: mid-engine, 2-seat roadster. in my opinion, the most desirable of configurations. yes, putting the S badge on this car goes a long way in earning respect, especially when compared to the much pricier 911, but for my dollar i'd go with RUF's interpretation of the boxster - the 3400S. i invite you all to do a little research on the RUF. you can't tell me you have that much else to be doing, especially if you're just roaming this messageboard.

I guess it proves this joke wrong:

What is the difference between a cactus and Porsche?

On the cactus, the prick is on the outside.

It's funny that the whole 'low-end' Porsche thing was brought up. A guy I work with has a 78 Corvette. That car cost the same amount as my 78 924 when it was new. Now....which original buyer got the better deal? Hmmmm.......
