looking for info on the type 016 Z trans.
the seller of this particular trans added the folowing
"From 1979 924 turbo. Type 016 Z (per the cross referance in my Haines Manual). Hand Stamped Code on the bottom rib is: VB-000-142 The cast code is: 477-301-301. The input shaft measures 20mm. From what I've read, this may also be used in early 911 and 931! I've had conflicting reports on the numbering system used for identification. Please consult an expert for cross referance using the numbers provided above"
TIA for any help _________________ '87 924S race car

| The 016 Z is the non turbo transmission from 1979, The G31 is the comprable turbo box (79-80 snailshell). The input shafts on the non turbo cars is 20mm and it is 25mm on the turbo units. This seller has no idea what he has. |

I wrote him and told him that the first time he listed the thing. And, the serial number he provides is for an 016/Y, also a non-turbo gearbox. _________________ '79 Eurospec 931 |
