Has anyone ever figured out the overall weight savings using the aluminum trailing arms instead of the steel???

If so how much???

This is an interesting question. Unfortunately, I don't have any loose steel trailing arms at the moment, but I should be able to weigh some late offset alu arms I have floating around later this afternoon.

I don't now if this helps but i just weighed my newly rebuilt steel arms and the came out at 9kgs. That is just the arm with the shaft and bearings but no silent block or bump stop.

Smither, as you have your arms and bushes out, would you be able to help with a measurement for this thread?

Or anyone else?

Excuse the brief hijack, back to our regular program.

No problem, i will be working on the car on Thursday the 18th (the car is stored at my dads house) so i will do some measurements for you then. I just took delivery of some polyurethane bushes from flo-flex, they are probably the same ones Rich H mentions in your thread as they also sell on ebay. They are listed for a 944/968 but should be ok for our application.

2. hand information but should be close, about 4kg each. W/ aluminum arms added benefits are easier shock mount and more robust wheel bearing i suppose.
