Your current daily driver cost how much?
Please state in $us, $can etc.. not includind tax.
I paid a high price for mine and I'm a little ashamed to admit it.
1977 924 with a Carrera GT kit. no rust, average interior, great aluminum rims and tires, sunroof, clean, almost everything was in great working order.
I paid $7,500 Canadian

nice try on trying to hide the cost, but without enlarging it it looks like you paid $6500 ouch, that stings but live and learn
I paid $2000 all it had all the time was a couple of minor dents, I did pay alittle much but eh oh well, they let me make payments on it so it was good
as for my 2 931s I am paying $2500 for both of them they both run great, 1 has an almost perfect body and frame but the seats are destroyed (this I am turning into a track car, the other the frame is bent up front and the rear trailing arm is bent so it is becoming a parts car
EDIT: All prices are in canadian funds _________________ 3 928s,

Your car is a hot ride for sure, Chris. Post some pics so I can claw my eyes out when your interior makes mine look like crap.
Hey Lizard do you have pics of your speedsters? Your edit Cdn $$$? Now I'm ticked.
Edit: I found a pair of great seats. Thanks Minus000!
Rather large pictures of the seats:

$3,000 for the '87 924S.
$3,600 for the '76 914 2.0.
924S was a better deal, but I've put a lot less money into the 914 so far. (Stupid steering rack and brakes on the 924S.)

Paid a little under US$4000 for my '87 924S. Car was in great shape, just needed a few minor things and the front end tune up. Ive since put about $1500 in parts into the car. _________________ 1987 Zermatt Silver Porsche 924S <-- Sold in Nov. '04

Bought my most recent 81 red 931 for $1200 or so, plus transportation costs. Still doesn't run, thrown probably a few hundred at it.
Got my '82 silver 931 (daily driver) for $800, plus costs to drag home from Atlanta. Thrown easily a couple grand at it, not 100% restored but doing well enough to use regularly now. Still needs probably another $2kUSD thrown at it to be all there, plus paint.
Got my racecar for $400. Since then, over the course of the build plus 3 full and busy seasons, and not counting consumables like tires and oil, I've easily spent anywhere between $6000-8000 on it. I still need a motor and paint.
That should help keep it in perspective. Remember, cosmetics are the most expensive. If it looks good, be happy, most of ours, though they may run well, do not. Few have the time and money to justify having them painted (especially when the cost of a really good paint job tends to be about equal to the cost of the car). _________________ Vaughan Scott

1987 924S Good shape, needed paint and interior work (drivers seat), $3200.00. 165K on the clock. Now! What does everyone have invested. I have receipts for an extra $9,000.00 or so..including paint.some interior..almost all new seals...tires, struts, shocks,blah,blah,blah..I have to stop tinkering. I guess it is still less than a car note and it is fun to drive.... _________________ Dream as if you'll live forever.

Like my new Topic says I pay $25 per hour and get a smokin' deal on parts.
I have however put in a new:
Water pump
timing belt
plugs
wires
cap
oil filter, fuel filter, air filter
Fluid change: oil, coolant, diff. and trans.
wiring for: fan, lights and ground for the horn.
Brakes bled and adjusted
And I am about to put in:
Wheel bearings (all)
pads (all)
both front turn signal assemblies |
