hey guys just an update for you,
I have the 016/Z in my car and I had a 2 day permit on my car, well I took it out for a test drive and well it looks like the first gear syncros are gone, and second syncros are real weak (I have to put it in slowly or it will grind), I only paid $200 for it, but the guy is a good guy and he will probably give me either some money back or some parts off his parts car, I am thinking about taking the belly pan tray,
but on the up side I took my car through airscare, and passed with flying colors everything was way below what it should have been, but before I went on the machine they kept going to the back of my car to make sure it had a muffler cause it is so loud because I only have a flowmaster with straight pipes (they never hassled me about not having a cat or resonator), But I am going to insure the car on friday
oh and also My distributor alway sat alittle high and touched the hood, well on the first day of the day permit I went out to where I got the tranny and let him know the syncros were gone, we popped the hood and were looking at a few things, we closed the hood and went to leave and it didn't sound like it was running 100%, so I pulled into a gas station got some gas my friend popped the hood and one of my spark plug leads was almost fully out and another one had broken inside the cap and broken one of the points of the cap, so we walked (about 5 min walk) to lordco, we got a new cap and new leads, went back to the cap put them all on and closed the hood carefully, and drove home, I then pulled the distributer housing but the gasket didn't move and not thinking I didn't take it of put the distributor in the correct position set them timing and saw abit of some but noticed that some oil had spilt onto the headers so didn't think much of it went around the block and saw a nice white cloud following me, but it wasn't from my exhaust, so I popped the hood and watched and there was oil dripping from the distributor housing, so I pulled it off again, and pulled the gasket off and it broke into a few pieces, so I called around not one store in my area could find anything for me, so I got a cereal box and made a home made gasket put it on and back together, the timing was alittle off again so I corrected that, and there were acouple of drops of oil falling on the ground but then it stopped and is now fine, took it out to abbotsford to make sure didn't burn any oil, and damn that 5 speed is great, the gears are so tall compaired to the 4 speed, I will not say how fast I got up to but it wasn't top speed because there was too much traffic.
but anyway there is abit of an update _________________ 3 928s, |

That cardboard gasket probably won't last long, unless you coated it with silicon rubber. Anyway, the synchro's are not expensive, about $100 a piece, incase you decide you want to replace them. However, you will have to drop the box again. _________________ 1980 924 Turbo |

Are you sure you have the distributor housing installed correctly? The cap should not hit the hood.

hey min do you have an audi tranny or a snailshell?
and as for removing the tranny to do them it wouldn't be to bad of a job just a PITA,
and the dizzy cap was in the position where it rubbed the hood, but now it isn't. and as for the cardboard gasket I hadn't planned on using it for a long time, I have to call either weissach or MCL Porsche to see if they can order one for me _________________ 3 928s, |
