hey boys and girls. i'm lookin' for suggestions on where i should mount an air/fuel gauge. i'm already replacing my clock with a boost gauge, so i can't place it there.

at the moment, i don't really like the idea of mounting a single pod on top of the dash. i just can't say that i think that would look nice at all. even a multi-pod on the top.. just kinda seems odd to me. i can't say i'd like to bust up that speaker cover.. but i could.. maybe with some careful design-eyeing that would work out. does anyone on here do pillar-mounting? if so, where'd you score your pillar-pod(s)?

does anyone have any other creative ideas or suggestions?

www.gaugepods.com or www.lindseyracing.com or www.lo-tek.com

I believe all three of those places sell a-piller gauge pods.. I think the guys on the forum here sell them too.. I'm not sure though.

I got mine from gaugepods.com and looks to be an excellent piece.

File this one under "creative ideas" or "don't care much about the old cracked dash, so take a hole-saw to it" - http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/smoothies931pics/detail?.dir=a174&.dnm=2d8c.jpg&.src=ph
If that looks like a viable solution, first remove the glovebox for a look behind to be sure there's enough room behind for the gauge you're using.

You could try what I am going to be doing in my early 944. I have another top of center console where the 3 gage holes are. I'm going to mold that in flush with the top of the dash. I'm also going to be moving the air vents out and make it look like the center console goes all the way up. If there's room I might also move my reciver up there. Then I am going to be redoing the dash and filling cracks. One of my friends has access to a CNC machine and is going to mill me some flat aluminum to cover the new gages, the old center console and around the gage cluster.

I hope this makes sence.

pkt1213, I have to be honest, I'm not following what you said completely, but I do have a pretty good general idea of what you're doing. It sounds fun. Hope to see pictures of this when you're done!

smoothie, I definitely like your idea. It fits in without looking awkward there.. and even though it's a little on the distant side, it's still going to be totally visible considering it's a multi-colored LED display. way rad.

flosho, dude, gaugepods.com is real good. but, lo-tek doesn't seem to be active right now, and I wasn't able to find pods at lindseyracing. but, it's cool though. if i go pillar-pod, i'll get the ones from gaugepods. that is, unless someone on the board wants to sell me something less expensive

anyone else gettin' fancy or creative?

I coulda swore lindseyracing sold gauge pods for our cars.. anyways, it looks like gaugepods.com is actually inconjunction with lo-tek, so just disregard the lo-tek.com link.

I got OEM black(+$7.99) for my gauge pod, it looks great, if you have real deep gauges, you might have some fitment problems, i had to actually dremel the corner/back out of my lower gauge to fit it in.

This is where I'm looking to buy one from:

http://www.9xauto.com/addclus.html

This one replaces the whole a-pillar cover and I've seen one up close; looks good. Problem is they don't make a three pod one. I hate to lose my clock! It's the only clock I've had in a car that's worked from day one and still keeps perfect time.

I bought a three gauge pod pillar mount that is a little big but could be modified to fit, if you're interested in doing that. I paid $30 but I'd let you have it for $20 shipped (in the 48 states). Brand new, in the package. But you'd have to do some cutting on it to make it work and I'm not sure how keen you are on doing that. It's got a carbon fiber look that I was going to paint over to match the brown interior color. This would work okay for you, if you're looking for functionality.

Oh, Mark (My924GTC) sells them here on the board. Almost forgot.
