I remember reading somewhere that a car magazine used one on a long-term test vehicle, and it didn't do anything.

yea it doesnt work on our system
I suppose you could get dual carbs then
design a cold air intake system and have
the air swirly thing in there somewhere.
btw the tornado is a haox for a porsche
to see gains .

Yeah, I toyed with the notion of building one out of sheet metal. Their "precision machined fins" are a couple pieces of sheet steel, fitted in a round section of sheet. It's not even welded

It doesnt work on ANY system! They will give you a 1-3 hp difference on factory badly designed intake systems. Very badly designed ones at that!!!

K&n spent money designing a filter that straightens intake flow. And here this thing wants to swirl the air. Swirling the air brings better atomization(at high pressure drop, only found near the port of the head) but by the time it (swirled air) enters the head the pressure drop negates this swirl. As the engine takes in air through the valves the pressure drop will "straighten" the air out.

Gm toyed with this swirling technicque on some heads(the only way it works at the port). The head ports are called swirl port heads. They overdid it and flow was restricted to much. They suck for power. If its done midly like on vortec heads you get less detonation prone heads, and slightly better economy with a "little extra power".

the whole atomisation thing that these BS devices talk about is designed to con those people who still think their car has a carb on it.

When the already atomised spray from your injectors gets hit by a stream of air travelling at close to the speed of sound you can be sure that any fuel that isn't already is going to get the life atomised out of it. Touchy, feely swirly air has nothing to do with it.

"What exactly is a TORNADO? It's an air twister with 10 years of research and development behind it."

10 years of research?!?! more like 10 years figuring out in how to sell the piece of crap. It's funny to see how ricers list this product as an "engine mod" though.

This is a con thlse things are spendy 2..Youd be better off assuring a cold air system by making your own.
