Okay,
I've been interested in this lovely little piece of hardware VW calls the W8, but I have a few questions for anyone out there that may know. First of all, will this thing fit into the engine bay of a 924? How much modification will need to be done to the engine mounts and torque tube connection? I have it figured this way, if you can mount the sucker under the hood, then the rest is easy, reletavely speaking. I really think 200+ HP would be beautiful thing out of something that is new technology. I've seen the VW commercials and their engines look surprisingly similar to ours, that is what got my attention in the first place. Now don't anybody go and get upset, I'm just querying the pool of knowledge to see if it's even feasable. Give me your thoughts on this one gentlemen.

Um, I think the W8 might be a little wide, but hey, if a small block V8 will fit...
BTW, the mechanical work is the easy part. It's the wiring and acessories that kill a project.

| It will fit in the engine bay,the 3.2L 60 degree rover fits and is bigger than the w8. youll want a new tranny,a tranny geared for a 4 cyl is geared to low and would waste power and fuel econ.928 trans would be good and keep close to 50/50 balance, It can be done but at what cost. |

| I'm more interested in the 1.8 turbo. It's set up for transverse applications, but you could mount it with work. The real work woulf be hooking up the clutch to the torque tube, but I've heard that Audi's bellhousing hasn't really changed that much, and that I might be able to interchange some parts. |
