Tonight I attempted to do a tuen up on my 81 931. Only plugs I could find were NGK..and did not fit the stock plug wires. So I had to just clean and regap the old ones. Old wires do not snap securely into the new distributor cap either. BTW what is the deal with the price of wires for these cars, I was quoted nearly $140 for a good set at Pep Boys and $80 for a cheap set. I have a plan though. Soem parts stores sell individual wires with ends already attached in dozens of different lenghts. The connections on the cap look like early 70's chevrolet stuff, and I can just screw standard ends onto the sparkplugs. Then I can head off to the parts store and buy a set of wires for ~$5/wire. Any particular reason why this won't work? Also I noticed something pecular about the rotors. The new rotor (from Borg Warner) had a very wide contact, the old one had a very narrow one. Mechanical ignition cars need narrow contact paths to maintain accurate timing. Digital/electronic ignition systems need wider contact areas to allow for timing adjustment. My car does run better. I can't wait to get soem real plugs in new wires on there.

yeah I used some Oldsmobile Firenza plug wires on mine and worked grrrrrrrrrrrrreat! I don't know about why everyone who owns a Porsche think they need Bosch parts, I am practically converting my 924 over to GM parts when things go out and the results are much better then Bosch stuff. It takes a little investigating out at junk yards to
see what fits but it's fun!

Personally, I recommend Magnecor wires (www.magnecor.com) - excellent quality, waranteed for life, rather inexpensive. Most racers around here use them also...
