ICYMI... from over on the Pelican board, it was pointed out that Jeep Wrangler struts are a perfect swap in for our hatch struts, including the electrical terminals. It's also been suggested that they are softer than original, which may help reduce hatch glass separation. Not too sure about that, time will tell.
Fitment is '87-95 Wrangler rear glass:

I got a pair and installed them on the #77, and was treated for the first time to a hatch that opens itself with a turn of the key!!! So much more convenient. Will get a set for the Turbo when time permits, hellishly busy with racing at the moment... _________________ Vaughan Scott

Whist those struts MAY fit the early 924, they won't fit the ones with a rear hatch operated interior light, probably about 1980 on. These cars require a non matched pair, one has to have a make/break contact at one end to operate the light

Always nice to have options, and a big X2 on the satisfaction of watching the hatch go up probably better than it left the factory.
I got mine from Rock Auto. $22 for the pair with the connectors for the rear defroster. They've had most of what I've needed so far. Fuel pump, water pump, timing belt all for what I thought were really good prices.
Got my shifter handle and sunroof hinges from Pelican Parts. Was happy with them as well.
I'm pleasantly surprised at how affordable parts have been. They add up over time, but any project vehicle does. It's all about the journey
Rubber side down!
