|
|
Hey all,
I'm replacing my rear bearings in my 77. Workshop manual says to "drive roller bearing outer race in with VW 415 A. Flanged edge must face out." The weird thing is my new bearings do not have a flange on them and the old ones I pulled out don't either. There is also a good chance these are the original bearing in the car.
The question is, without the flange, which way do the new bearings go in? They look symmetrical to me but want to make sure. Any ideas?
Thanks,

Correct, I've never seen any with a flange, they are symmetric and either orientation works... _________________ Vaughan Scott

Thanks, Vaughan!
Also, the new outer bearings have a different type of cage that has a plastic (i think its plastic) ring that is on the outside on one side. Have you seen that? Any idea if it should be facing in or out?
