Hi Folks,

I ordered the steering column bushing kit for my 78. I've looked on how these should be installed and I think I have it figured out but would like some assurance before I take anything apart or damage the new bushing.

From what I've seen the light colored bushing (12) Goes into the back of the bearing inside of the ignition assembly with the flange facing the dash. Then the ignition switch is installed, turn signal and wiper switches installed, then the black bushing (12a) end with cut outs facing dash then the steering wheel.

Does this sound correct?

Thank you!

Correct. Except in my case the serrated edges of the black bush was the culprit, and causing the white support sleeve to flog out. Thus against all recommendations, I reversed the black bush (spacer) with the serrated edges against the steering wheel, which is much harder and won't flog out.
Ensure you clean and regrease the actual bearing the white support ring sits in.
