I have a 77 924. I’m wondering if anyone has eliminated the steel line coming from the water pump that supplies water to the heater and branches off to the temp senders and the back of the head?
Is it needed to cool the head or just for flow to the sensors so they see the temp?
Thanks. _________________ It’s a sickness. |

Yes, as Magnus said. It's needed even if you don't use it to feed hot water to the heater core. _________________ 1979 924 NA race car H-Prod SCCA

On my track car with no heater I eliminated it for a while and it ran fine. But, I have since put it back as it comes from the furthest part of the system so air could easily get trapped back there, at which time bad things could happen. On a SBC they always referred to this line as a steam line. _________________ Mike

For best head cooling I think the heater core should be bypassed or T’d around..
Definitely not blocked off.. _________________ 80 Turbo - Slightly Modified |
