Considering I have found no sources for rod bolts, I'm looking at two options: ARP 275-6001 or off-the-shelf M10x1 Class 12.9 Allen Bolts with "High-Torque" 12 point nuts. ARP is rated to 220ksi where 12.9 is 170ksi, no value on the nuts. The ARP bolts seem to fit based on measurements I received via email from ARP with about 2mm of the retaining sleeve fitting into the rod cap (is that enough?). The off-the-shelf options are easily acquired and much cheaper, tolerance might be the only issue, but measurements indicate they should fit just as well as original rod bolts (length, retaining sleeve, head diameter etc.). Has anyone tried the BMW bolts, I have read mentions of it on our forum, but no follow-through? Comments on either option? Let me know if I'm off-base, I'm willing to listen and learn.
