Hey everyone...I saw an episode where Ant on Wheeler Dealers reworked the shifter on a 1977 924 to have shorter throw and tighten everything up. I have been trying to find it again on YouTube and can't. Anyone have a link to it?

No idea about Utube, but when I put in my 5 speed It looked like it could be done. First get the shift lever arm from Only944.com, it is a bear to change with the tranny in place, I'd loosen the transmission mounts to get it to drop a bit to make it easier. Then you are going to have to lengthen the vertical link from the shift rod to tranny cross shaft. Can't say how much, but probably a bunch of fiddling. It would be quite difficult to use their short shifter because the 944 has a shorter shift rod(remove tranny to get it out) and longer pin that attaches to the transmission shift rod. Another major problem is that the 5 speed shift rod anchors to the tranny shift cross rod differently with a locating bolt where the 4 speed has a splined shaft. The transmission cross shaft is in a slightly different location on the 5 speed from the 4 speed. The case looks the same, but it is not.
