You'll probably hear a more definitive answer from the UK listers, but keep in mind that all of us over here in the States run all our cars on unleaded. The only substantial differences are not major and internal, but the ignition curve and compression. Retarding your timing should be all that's necessary to use unleaded, with less retard for higher octane.

Hi
Ihave an 83 euro spec 924 in the UK which I have been running on uleaded for about 4 months ( since I got the car ) it has about 130000 miles on the clock and so far is running fine, I did r3etard the ingnition a fraction which seemed to smooth the tickover.
I read somewhere that all post 79 924's had hardened valve seats and could use unleaded though the official porsche site says to use leaded!

Yeah, doesn't surprise me they'd say that, given the risk of detonation/pinking (yes, I used to have a Britcar :)

I run a UK car and only put super unleaded (97 RON) in it. No pinking or any other problems (apart from really bad fuel consumption, but that's another story).
Stick SUL in and you will be fine.
