Hello guys, new here, just bought a 1980 924 and it arrived without a dipstick. Where does it go and where can I order a replacement? Is there anyway for me to check the oil without the stick?

Also the fuel gauge is not working, I don't want to take the dash apart, so could I just install an aftermarket gauge where the stereo used to be?

Or can someone at least post a picture of where it goes and what it supposed to look like?

Hi, welcome to the 924 board.

Fellow board member Harm has detailed the dipstick measurements so you can at least check the level with coat hanger wire or similar. It goes in the small hole (or tube) at the bottom of the block, just above the aluminium sump about half way along underneath the intake manifold, in front of the engine mount bracket.
I'm sure if you post a wanted to buy request in the for sale section someone can help you.

The fuel gauge may only be a lose or faulty wire and should be relatively easy to troubleshoot, starting with the sender resistance. Does it move at all like other gauges when ignition is switched on?

If you have plenty of time however and think it is cheaper or easier to install another complete gauge & sender it probably won`t get much cheaper than this:
