Because ride height is very aerodynamically important in land speed racing, I need to lower the car (it's a 1979 NA) at least three inches. Therefore I need to reindex the rear torsion bars. Unfortunately my 1,400 page factory manual provides no real input and all of the on-line guides I've found are for the 944.
The instructions I've found say that the 944 and 924 rear suspensions are essentially identical but I believe that the 944's transaxle is attached to the chassis independantly from the torsion bar carrier, while the 924's is mounted to two braces that are part of the carrier. Ergo those (944) instructions never mention removing (or supporting) the transaxle as part of the process.
Does anyone here have a link to a set of instructions on how to remove the rear suspension and reindex the bars on a 924? If so, I'd truly appreciate it.
