Hello....

New to the forum and new porsche owner....
Having issue with my 924 I changed the timing belt cus it broke, wouldn't start after thought it was the ignition switch so I replaced that but it still won't crank.....maybe it's the starter? I don't know at this point and any input would be appreciated.

Thanks and have a good weekend

I am still in my first year with my 924 but have been working on old cars forever. Start with the basics. You say it won't start, and sounds like it is not cranking at all correct?

So basic question/test number one, do you have power at all? Do the various dash lights come on when you turn the key?

If so try turning the headlights on with the key in the on position, are they nice and bright like they should be? Now try cranking, do the headlight dim or go out? If so power is getting to the starter, but either not enough to crank it (battery or bad cable connections creating electrical resistance) or bad starter.

If the lights stay bright when you try to crank it juice is not getting to the starter, suspect ignition switch or starter solenoid.

Lastly, not sure what it might be but when you did the timing belt did you touch or potentially disturb anything in the starting circuit? Did you disconnect the battery? Clean the cable connections at the posts, probably not your problem but it is much easier to do than pulling the starter switch or starter motor.

Others with more expertise may provide more detailed guidance.
