Is there a difference between the early N/A car crankshafts and the later N/A & Turbo shafts ? Just wondering because I have never seen this asked or discussed....

Interesting that the PET doesn't make any distinction on different cranks other than a change up number with an A on the end.
I find it a little difficult to believe that the early motor cranks would be significantly different as the blocks are all the same and the con rods are also listing as all the same. _________________ Melanie - 1980 931

Green tartan interior, you don't see that on a Civic. |

That's why I'm asking. I looked in PET and it only lists 1 number. Seems strange. I have a bunch of these and a few came already out of cars so I don't want to chuck something and then find out I pitched the wrong one !

79 PET shows two cranks and two sets of main bearings, 60 and 64mm.
Last 60mm crank is in engine # XK003213. _________________ Toofah King Bad

So to be correct, the Turbo engines are all 64mm then ?

It would be very unlikely to find a 60mm crank here in North America. I'm going from memory, but I seem to recall that there were only 11 or so of the very first couple thousand produced that made it to North America. The rest would be in Europe.
As far as I am aware, there is no difference between the rest of the 64mm crankshafts. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |
