I snapped this picture this past weekend showing the three different types of pistons that I have found when tearing some engines apart.

As per Dan Beckett:
The left is an NA US spec piston, sits 6mm down from the deck. It will have the pin in a different location than the other two.
Middle piston is 7.5:1 US spec series 1 931 slug.
Piston on right is 8.0:1 US spec series 2 931 slug.

Not quite sure what your point is. We all know the pistons are different between the engine models.

Did you happen to find a set that were actually 'different' than the factory slugs from various versions ? i.e. a custom set or something someone has roughly cross-referenced from a different manufacturer and installed in a 924 block ?

The one with the offset dish threw me for a loop, I guess.
