Hi Guys,
Two totally unrelated questions here hope someone can help, tried the search function but my parameters were a little complicated and couldn't find much.
Firstly my Tacho / rev counter does not work at all. From my search it appears to run off the coil can anyone give me a little better run down of how it is all connected and where to look for my issues.
The second one relates to the hose from the thermostat housing. My hose is without the bleed bung/plug (just a plain piece of hose). I am not adverse to just getting the correct one however two problems present here; the first is I cant find anyone who sells the bung, and all of the replacement hoses seem to not come with it; second, I cant seem to find a replacement hose in Australia, and the time it would take for one to come from overseas I would very much like to use to get the car running a little better. Can I unbolt the radiator overflow bottle and raise it above the piece of hose out of the thermostat to bleed the system of air, or is there some reason that this will not work.
Besides that the car is starting every time but it will not idle well at all (its ok if you keep some throttle on). I am thinking that I will need to go through the warm up stuff (WUR and AAV) and fix what I find. Also it is starting now without the CSV plugged so I need to find the fix to this too. A bit to do still, but it would really help if I could get the tach working and the cooling system in order so I can run it for longer than 90secs.
Thanks again I will post some pics soon too. _________________ 1977 924 NA Auto |

also I guess I better ask, is it preferred that I make individual thread for each individual issue I want to ask about, or is it better to keep them all in a single thread about getting my car going? I realised that I have been making single threads when an issue I needed some help with presented, and that this may not be the done thing. _________________ 1977 924 NA Auto |

You can plug the bung with a bolt (M8 or M6, something like that?) and a hose clamp. We've had the racecar like that for a long time.
Yes, you should go through ALL the warm-up stuff. _________________ Vaughan Scott

You need to get a Haynes for electrical diagrams and other problems.
Not 100% accurate but apart from factory manuals will sort most problems. _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA
