Scored it at a storage unit auction toady + some other junk I was forced to take with it in a lot for $3.. It sure cleaned up nice..

It says some stuff on it about being compliant for some marine codes but only with its mount. Is this the right kind if fire extinguisher that people put in there cars? It says A, B, and C for wood, liquids and electric fires but there are many types of extinguishers and I don't really know one from another..

I do know that this one is pretty cool looking with all metal handles and metal mount with a stainless strap etc.

I eyeballed it in the passengers footwell but the seat runs into it if it's slid forward, I'm thinking about mounting it to the top of the tunnel behind the center column and shifter, a ways back as to not interfere with my shifting elbow.. I don't relly know, I have more looking to do..

Racecars have extinguishers in them, why not my car?

Should be fine.

ABC means it is rated for all types of fires.

This is one way to remember what the types of extinguishers are for.

A - Ashes. Things that burn like wood, carpet, and stuff like that.
B- Barrel. Liquids that burn like gasoline.
C - Charge. Electrical fires.

As you can see, a car needs an ABC extinguisher.

Good buy! I always have an extinguisher with me on the atreets, theres no marshalls that can save me there. A tiny fire can be put out in a second with extinguisher but can burn down your pride and joy if you dont have it. Have seen it happen on enthusiast cars, and it's really sad.

If you use a powder one in your car you need 3 years to get it cleaned afterwards. If you have a insurance, smoke a cigarette while it burns.....

If you have no insurance buy a CO 2 exting.- no residue......

Right in front of the passenger seat is where they generally get placed and rennline even sells a bracket.

Green tartan interior, you don't see that on a Civic.

Maybe I can take my passengers seat out, take the rails off the seat, and design/build a mount that attaches to the seat where the rails go on so the extinguisher will slide back and forth with the seat..

I've been super busy, just got a silly amount of drywall delivered to my moms 30X40 2 story, new construction, 8 9 10 12 14 and 16 foot boards to my measurements after we finally passed our insulation inspection..

I need to get her her occupancy permit before winter to get her out of her trash trailer and it's pretty much all up to me..

Pics and explanation etc here in this thread if anyone is interested..

I know jack about construction and building fyi, me and wood just don't get along..

There are already fire extinguisher mounts made to attach to the seat rails. They aren't that complicated to make....

Where do you find time to work on your car while working on your mom's house? That is one major undertaking, kudos to you!!!

Well I'll admit that I have a lot of time because I don't exactly work a 9 to 5.. I guess you could say I'm self employed, I fix anything/everything and buy low sell high etc..
If I "work" 15 hours a week awesome, that alone brings me more cash than a 40 hour check at a decent "job" around here, + whatever else deals I can make. I live in a pretty impoverished area so decent jobs are scarce at best..
The GF works as a cleaning subcontractor, paid per job, average 15-25 hours a week @ round $20-$30 an hour.
It doesn't cost that much to live if you have time to fix and maintain everything yourself like your cars and house(s) etc VS hiring things out and just buying new all the time when things malfunction.
We own our place and a rental outright , paid off no questions asked, so more income and lower bills. Though we are thinking about buying ourselves a nicer place, with a real garage, and having a mortgage payment + 2 rentals.
Compared to the average around us we live quite comfortably and have more time to do whatever we want than most anyone..

This allows me to do things like I did just today..

Buy a "the best in the world" floor jack that needs restoring (time for paint + a $65 seal/rebuild kit) and wallah ownership of a $1300 floor jack still made in USA to this day. Next to my Matco.
http://www.castleequipment.com/Jacks/service_jacks_by_weaver.htm By god that should reach under the front of the Porsche eh?

Also buy another lathe.. Not too shabby after a bit O TLC n elbow grease I bet.. Matches my beastly drill press I got for $75 that will/could/should last my entire lifetime with maintenance..

With tooling..

And another alemite roller barrel style pneumatic grease rig similar to this one in the pic.. (need to decide to keep this smaller one that's half full @ maybe 2.5 gallon ish guess total cap or keep my bigger 120# barrell one that's 2/3 full, hmmm)

Plus a cabinet full of more bottled fluids and aerosols from a gallon of muriatic acid, 1/2 gal of thread cutting fluid, WD40's, carb + choke cleaners, engine fogger, you name it, to just keep/use..
Oh, and a whole box full of most of the drywall mud tools that I'll be needing soon.

Buy all that for $80 bundled, clean up and flip the lathe and a greaser (things I don't want/need), whallah there's about a weeks wages worth of positive income at some "job" + a cool jack project for me to keep and a restock of common sprays I use all the time, and don't have to drop $100 on drywall tools..
Granted I can't do that every day but I try

I also picked up a K'a'rcher HDS 650 kerosene fired 110v steam pressure washer (made in Germany), about $6,500 new, for FREE 2 days ago that I still need to look deeper into and decide if it's worth it to fix to keep, flip, or scrap as is. I haven't even plugged it in yet I've been so busy it just might work IDK.

And another quad bike, paid $400 + replace $80 CDI + time, sell for $1000-$1200, wham just that pays our summer taxes easy..

$200 snowmobile needs $60 jackshaft chain/sprockets, wait till fall/winter, sell for $600-$900..

You get the picture..

All that takes flexible, drop of the hat TIME but not that much of it, much less than a full time job, and allows me time to build my moms house, a rocket 931, a Subaru, a jack, and make enough money to be comfortable..

But I can't just hemorrhage money because I have to have money (on hand) to make money so if I buy anything for me I have to spend wisely and be "frugal".

Thats how I do it..
