I took the carbs off my '82 and transferred my CIS from my '78 car onto it.
However the main connector for the cis electrical harness is square on the '82 , but round on my '78 (and a spare harness I have from a '79).
So my question is, how much did the wiring change between '78 and '82? Will I be able to take the pins out of the square style connector on the car and stick them into the round one, or will it require a different approach?
I don't have the original cis harness from the '82. For now I'm going to try to find an electrical schematic for the '82, but if anyone has any information I would appreciate it. _________________ 1978 924 -parts car

Correcto!
From the top of my head:
The supplementary start valve part (and sensor) was added to the later engine wiring. For details you'll have to use the electrical schematic drawings you'll find in the back of the Haynes Workshop manual for the 924.

Mine is a '78 and it has a supplemental start valve. _________________ 78 924 |

Apparently I had it wrong!
My apologies.
Since I have both of them here I took a closer look…
The old round plug, V-notch at 12 o’clock, pins facing forward to you.
Going clockworks there are six pins around the center pin.
1. Ye/Bk
2. Bl/Wt
3. Re/Bk & Gn/Wt
4. Bl/Ye
5. Gn/Bk
6. Bl/Bk
Center pin: Re/Wt & Bk/Gn
Square shaped plug, flat side up, bottom rounds, pins facing forward to you.

Would this be the earth/feeler plug on the fueldistributers air-flap housing?
It used to work like a ~kill switch. Combined with the coil, it would stop the fuel pump incase of an accident;
If the air flap was still open when the coil wasn't giving a pulse, it would shut down power to the fuel pump.
This function was later combined in the fuel relay.
5. Gn/Bk
Hmm… I'm not sure; a long wire plus rubber plug?
Oil pressure/temp. sensor? _________________ Porsche 924 NA 1982 LY7A/A3A3 _ Greater driving pleasure never harmed anyone. |
