PO epoxied mine.

Rockauto has one for around 110ish

Seems foolish to me. Any advice to find it cheaper?

Here is one on ebay that supposedly fits a 79:

Still a bit pricey.

…the larger ones are even double the price, but at least you'll just need one.
You might consider changing to a single unit and take up Stu's offer.

Some cross reference:
The small 20cc unit (you'll need TWO) came on the early Toofahs pre ~1980.

I've always wondered if the accumulators on the 1.8+ VW engine's that use K-Jetronic could be used.
Do you happen to have any info on that?
Kind regards,
Harm.

Edit01: Line 5; 40cc should read 20cc. Altered.

I have also wondered if one from a 1.8 vw kjet system would work, as a buddy has a few of them.

Smokin' deal on a critical component. Foolish is betting on a used one to last in the long term, IMO.

VW's accumulator:

Things looked promising until I came across this image^
Note there are two different threads on there…

OEM Number 477-209-083 can be one of two Bosch models. Many suppliers are vague or incorrect with the years they are suitable for.
My '78 924 is a 438 170 015 unfortunately i ordered a replacement based on a suppliers information and received a 438 170 007.
Has anyone found if there is an adapter to go from the larger thread on the 007 model to convert to the smaller thread size? Also what type or description are the fittings they use?
If not i have a 438 170 007 available for sale.

So I was sent a Bosch 0438170007, the one with 2 different sized fittings on top, and a nipple on bottom.

It appears to be the 20cc one/VW one.
Before I return it, is there a way to utilize it?

I am assuming not. Bosch currently has none of the 40ccs available according to my supplier, so if I cant get this one to work, I will have to buy used.

In my first reply I made a typo in line 5:
It said 40cc where it should have the amount 20cc.
My apologies if my mistake set you in the wrong direction, Steve.

Kind regards,
Harm.
