I knew this one was done but its still hard once the plasma cutter is out doing its thing.

Whomever had this one I'll always wonder. The cam still has moly on it but the car was smashed so hard, on the driver front corner, it folded the roof and floor a bit. Its like they rebuilt a bunch of it and then launched it into a wall or tree immediately ?????

At least the drive train will live on in one of my shells

Watch for bent drive shafts and damaged bell housing.

Ya know, now that I squint a little when I'm looking at the front of that, the motor looks canted to driver's left. It might be an artifact of parallax from the camera or something but I think you're right about bends in the driveline. If that engine moved left, sadly, it does not bode well for the rest of the components.

It would be interesting to see the motor mounts to see how much (if!) things have moved around...

That being said, I can see all kinds of things I want to yell "DIBBS" on

Yeah, I helped Alex (mightymotormouth) dismantle a former Mark Johnston 931 that had been badly front-ended (must've been cursed). The bell housing was cracked / broken, as well as the front of the Audi trans housing. I seem to remember there being an issue with the torque tube, but I can't remember if it was the driveshaft or the flange on the tube itself.

In any event, something to look over carefully on any car that's sustained a hit like that.

The plan is to remove the engine, trans, tube assembly as one

Then we'll see what is going on. Have to admit you have me a tad more worried that more will be damaged. It is what it is I guess

I can say this is the worst pic of this car especially now with the front end plasma'd off! I do see a slight roof tweek as well as in the floor and this is why the tub must go (RIP). It served someone, just not me. What is left is for parts

I have an identical car (even has the same stripes), minus collision damage.
I wouldn't expect drive line damage from that type of hit. The frame horns dont appear to be moved much. The floors fold fairly easy on side impacts & the roof gets puckered when the door post moves.
How is the battery area? Lots of people looking for those.

I'll check but I think its decent.

How would that be cut out?

I want to keep the passenger fender well area so I can use the engine/well area for a header mock up/clearance jig. So I have been wondering how I want to cut this part out. Juts need it once since I can build a bench jig thereafter.

You'll want to save the bottom of the battery tray from the wheel well wall in front, to at least halfway up the slope towards the windshield & from the passenger sidewall under the fender to at least halfway up the slope towards the blower.
Don't cut the pan itself, whoever needs it will want the whole "pan" of the tray.
You can leave the box channel with the 3 holes & rubber plugs on the fender side attached as that usually rots out where it meets the tray. You may also want to leave the front most corner of the wheel well attached as that usually rots out also. You'll have a bowl when you're done.

Leave the battery area attached to the clip you need until you're done with your project. You can make a few bucks & help someone out who needs that battery area.

Pm me your email if you need pics of where to cut.
