So my passenger door lock is stuck in the locked position so I can't get it open. On top of that the one key the PO gave me only unlocks the hatch. The driver door also gets stuck when I lock it but luckily I have the inside door panel off and was able to get it back open. I've tried a coat hanger to get the thing unlocked but it just bends the hook I made because it's so stuck. Anyone have any recommendations before I have to tear apart my perfect door panel just to get this thing to unlock?

i would guess that there are non standard parts or some wrong parts fitted from similar designs, perhaps if you can see whats fouling or jamming on the visible panel(drivers door) you might be able to devise a better plan to free the mechanism and unlock the passenger door without causing damage to the trim.

If the button on the inside is stuck down, the lock would probably be stuck too because they're attached to the same mechanism. It the door handle trigger stuck to the open position? You might want to check to make sure its not engaged then check the inside button again.

After that, I would try to get some lube on the mechanism to loosen it up.

You might want to study how the mechanism works & where its located before you try to slim Jim it open.

As a last resort, I would (carefully) destroy the door handle before the door panel, they're cheap.

Did you do a search? I remember reading about someone else that had the same problem. I remember he did finally get the door open.

The door lever isn't stuck it just moves very freely. From looking at the driver's side it just seems all dirty and gummed up, which might be the passenger side problem, it's just I can't get a screw driver in on the passenger side like I did on the driver side. I had a lot of visibility and space to work on the driver's side and it still took a lot of force to get unstuck.

Is this why half my cars have welded door hinges? People get sick of doors jamming up so they cut them off?

I've been making my girlfriend crawl through the driver's side to get in lol. She isn't very fond of that.

The door card take all of 5mins to take off...
unscrew the bolt at the rear of the arm rest, un pop the 8 clips, pop out the mirrior/window switches and disconnect plug, unscrew door release knob, remove door card up, leave window up for this...

inspect clean repair... job done in 20mins

Not going to happen with the door shut without damage to the door panel.

Since you have the driver's door open, I'd pull both front seats and anything else that might get in your way then remove as much of the inner door hardware as possible. Finally pop the bottom, rear corner of the door panel off and reach in with your hand to physically manipulate the lock/latch.

That said, sometimes pushing in on the door while working the handles can help after spraying some cleaner/degreaser into the area where the lock and latch area to try and free the mechanism up to work properly.

If anyone ever wondered, you CAN get the door panel off without damaging it with the door shut. That said, I got it open. I was close to just losing my mind though. So close...

Hmmm, how did you get the screw out of the upper, forward part of the door panel with the dash in the way?

I lucked out, it wasn't in for some reason, I forgot about that, maybe you can't get it out without that one, lol.
