|
|
I have a '77 Martini & Rossi that I am nearly finished restoring. (Off to paint & body in March and I'm done!)
I am keeping the car completely OEM (or as close as possible) but I would love the extra power of the Euro models. I have removed most of the emission controls and added a Dansk muffler (no OEM NOS available). What else can I do to get the hp up to the Euro spec 120bhp? (In keeping within the only OEM world)
Thanks guys! _________________ Love me some toofa' |

Euro pistons (higher compression) and distributor (slightly more advance) _________________ Stefan

I was always wondering what this part was doing
Is there a different model between US and ROW that would help performance? _________________ 1979 924 NA |

Regarding your question Snakoil;
I guess they are the same.
Problem I wanted to point out is that Ninpo4me his M&R probably uses the Distributor that has points in them.
If he was to flip in a ROW distributor, he’d also needs to get the Transistorized ignition control unit
More on the Transistorized ignition control unit in the Haynes Workshop Manual
Chapter 5, Ignition and starting system
8 Ignition system - general description
12. This type of ignition circuitry is known as inductive discharge ignition. As the system requires no points which can arc. the 'switch off' condition happens very abruptly with no leakage of current. This means more power at the spark plug and a very rapid buildup of high current even at very high engine revs. In theory, no engine which relies on rotating mass as the means of producing power can turn faster than the ignition system can produce spark. Ignition remains 'dead on' at all times and under all conditions once it is set up correctly.
Different Distributers and their curves.
