I have a 1979 Porsche 931 euro with the G31 dogleg gearbox, and I have trouble with the 2. gear syncro.
Now one of my friends have a 951 s eurospec. that he parts out, how much work is needed to fit the 951 gearbox on my car? I have all parts, transaxle, clutch etc. |

It is more time consuming than anything. Basically, you need to remove the G31, torque tube and shift tubes and either cut off the extensions that the transaxle mounts to on the rear torsion tube or replace the torsion tube with the one from the 951. The two supports will be in the way of the 951 transaxle.
You need to drop the rear torsion tube to remove and install the torque tubes which can be time consuming if the torsion tube hasn't been removed before.
Then you install the 951 torque tube and shift lever/rod and install the 951 transaxle. The CV shafts should bolt into the 951 flanges. You do not need to change the clutch or bellhousing. Although you may need to drill and tap a couple of bosses to attach the 931 mounts to the transaxle. You will also need the 016 type trans mounts. These are used on the 924 N/A with the AUDI 016 and the early 944 (up to 84) These will bolt to the transaxle and then to the 931 crossmember. You may need to chase the threaded holes in the crossmember but they will be there already as they are used for the N/A transaxle. _________________ 84 944--924 Carrera GTS clone w/520HP Chevy 302 V8--RUNNING!

Changing the first gears syncros is pretty straight forward with the guides that are out there, if you want to keep the cool gearbox _________________ 1980 924 Turbo
