I remember looking into converting my '78 to a hydraulic clutch set-up but found that my car did not have the hole in the firewall for the mc. Now I have an '82 NA with audi 5-speed and can't find the threads I had referred to earlier.
Is converting to a hydraulic setup as simple as sourcing the mc, sc, and line and bolting them on?
I have 5-lug brakes/MC from an '83 944. _________________ 1978 924 -parts car

I would think a bell housing from a hydraulic car would be necessary. _________________ Toofah King Bad

Doesn't the pressure plate operate in a different direction too? manual push hydraulic pull... It's been a while since I've played around with the manual setup though...

So you'd need the 924 turbo (931) , flywheel, pressure plate, a custom clutch disc (924 turbos have a different clutch spline), starter (mounts differently on the 924 Turbo), clutch slave cylinder and master cylinder, hoses, master cylinder reservoir and throw-out bearing, plus various bits of hardware.
Luckily the hydraulics are more or less shared with the 944, so you should be to source those parts. The 924 Turbo specific parts won't be as easy to get given how rare the cars are comparatively.
You'll likely want to replace the brake master cylinder and add a firewall brace while you're in there as they tend to crack over time.
So what does that gain you? Not a hell of a lot since the cable solution works pretty well when maintained. Replace the cable and plastic ends, keep it lubricated and adjusted and it will work just fine. _________________ Stefan
