Porsche did. Its from a late model 968, commonly called a "bridge spoiler" there are a few of the Porsche vendors making fiberglass knock-off's, but you can occasionally find someone parting out a 968 to get one. Mae sure to get the mounting hardware for it, or even the entire hatch to make it easier.
I don't know how well it would look on a narrow body 924 though.
This is the only example I found and its a bit 80's boy-racer due to the rest of the "body kit" :/
If you do this on your 924, I'd look at building or adding a front airdam/splitter to keep the potential downforce addition even front/rear. If you don't you could have issues with a lightweight front end at speed as some have found when using a 944 rear spoiler.
Without the front air dam/splitter I would stick to the smaller 924/924S style spoiler or none at all (since I like the smooth rear look, just my preference). _________________ Stefan

Sort of an interesting old school aftermarket part. _________________ Stefan

I seem to remember reading recently that there was a 944-specific bridge spoiler introduced late in the model range that was different than the 968 spoiler. The 968 Turbo S had an adjustable version of the fixed 968 bridge spoiler, and there are several fiberglass aftermarket versions available. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

OK. Here 944 S2 was definitely available with bridge spoiler in 1990. And there were some very late 944 Turbos with bridge spoiler too. I always thought the 968 rear lid/spoiler combination was the same as in 944 but I could be very wrong. _________________ Mikko

Bump!
The 968 bridge spoiler had a high stoplight, the earlier s2/turbo ones didnt. My friend removed a 968 spoiler for his 86 turbo and found the mounting points were all different so he put the whole 968 hatch on his turbo instead. The downside for him was he had get his 968 hatch tinted, the upside for me was I got his turbos old tinted hatch for my 86 n/a. _________________ '86 944 |
