So After my weekend at Watkins Glen, I need to do a leak down and compressiuon test on the engine. We developed a bad stumble at low rpm's that would clear up above 3200. Made coming out of the low speed corners a bit of a drag.

If I find the numbers out of line or low, and need to rebuild the motor. Has anyone made a 2.2 stroker motor? If so would the collective trust think that it would be a good thing or would not see much improvements. I would also add Electronic Fuel Injection.

Cheers.

Compression is a wonderful thing, so is a lightened flywheel.

But I think you need to fix your current problems first, before sinking a ton of money into the car.

Any more symptom/detail?
Have you change any parts lately?

Nothing but the oil has been changed. And that at the regular interval with the proper weight and to the proper level. I have just been driving and enjoying the car.

More symptoms. It started with just sharp, decreasing right hand corners at the local race track, I thought it was fuel starvation and the car ran faultlessly home after. It also ran perfectly for the 5 hour trip down to Watkins Glen. Only number 1 cylinder showed any sign of not firing properly as the other three plugs were showing a nice burn. Swapping the plug didn't help.

The next day I pulled the injector out and tapped it a few times, after running some fuel injection cleaner through the system. Still no good. But now it was happening in lefts and rights after being in a low rpm state. The idle also dropped from about 12 - 1300 down to 1000.

That's all I can think of.

Have you investigated the #1 plug wire?

Does it run/rev up strong all trough RPM range in neutral?
Any symptom on strait line acceleration from low RPM?

Same thing in a straight line. But once it gets past 3200rpm it cleans up again. This was determined on the drive home from the track. Basically it is happening under load. No smoke or anything out of the exhaust.

Have you checked your ignition and valve timing? How's that timing belt look?

The timing belt looks good. No cracks. Timing is good as well. But I haven't put a timing gun to it yet. That will be soon.

I would start by checking the condition of the plug wires, rotor & cap and the flow out of the injectors. You said you looked at the wires, did you measure resistance? They can look fine but still be bad. What did the #1 plug look like? Light, dark etc.?
