What I'm referring to is the long spring that sits between the column support and pedal arm that pivots off the column support...
What's its purpose other than to return the pedal to full height?
I'd like to change this out for the standard return spring to help with clearance for my PAS install...
cheers

it only holds the pedal out for like the last 2 inches of the pedals travel, after you push the clutch pedal in just a small bit after the spring rocks over its apex or whatever you want to call it that same spring will snap the pedal to the floor... like a compound bow kinda..
you can play with it if say.. you have a bad master cylinder and its cold out, like mine
I would think the last little bit that holds it out has to do with the hole in the master cylinder that refills the line and cylinder with fluid that opens only when the piston is all the way out, spring makes sure when clutch pedal goes out that it clears that hole to equalize the pressure between the slave and line with the reservoir refilling the line if any fluid is lost or if slave rest position changes..
and then maybe the compound action of the spring is the way it is so it will never pull on the pedal much creating a vacuum in the line/slave incase there is a leak it wont suck it full of air?
disclaimer: that is all pure speculation
with a bad master if there is a leak the pedal will actuate the clutch but the pedal will never fully rebound from the floor and keep getting closer and closer to the floor until it becomes useless... this I know... spring keeps pressure down against the slave if the slave doesn't return the pedal back past the springs apex where it holds the pedal all the way out...
idk if that helps _________________ 80 Turbo - Slightly Modified |

Nope, and I have no idea what that little hole is for. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |
