(Is there a/where is the) correct subforum on 924board to SCREAM IN CAPSLOCK when you get F'd over by someone that misdescribed/did not properly disclose the condition of a used part you bought from them causing you to blow a good percentage of your current 931 resurrection budget while making no progress and having to start over again from scratch? _________________ 80 Turbo - Slightly Modified |

I thought we used to have a seller feedback thread stickied in the FS/WTB forum. I did a search but couldn't find it, so it may have been intentionally removed, or perhaps lost in the recent server migration... _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

very unlikely the seller will have any more 924 parts, he didn't even know the turbos he had were for the 924...
if the item turns out not to be what I thaught it was going to be its due to sellers ignorance and incapability to accurately describe the item and IMHO not due to any deceit on his part..
I was told....
no evidence of wheels contacting the housing or damage to them
no evidence of oil deposits in turbine or compressor housigs
no evidence of metallic flakes/particles
spins freely with slight shaft play
expecting turbo shop to call in 15 min _________________ 80 Turbo - Slightly Modified |

confirmed...
turbine wheel and shaft are damaged and unrepairable...
bearing housing is also unrepairable...
atleast I got good turbine/compressor housings and a compressor wheel out of the deal eh?
he mentioned nothing about a crack in turbine housing so maybe I got a good one?
trying to be optimistic.... _________________ 80 Turbo - Slightly Modified |

Don't count on it. Most people don't even know where to look, and if the housing isn't cleaned up, you can easily miss the crack. They almost always crack at the start of the inner scroll. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

the turbo I took off my car has a crack there at the beginning of the scroll but its small, and it isn't stepped so it should be ok to run.
I just pulled mine the rest of the way down and I think my bearing housing is probably going to be useable.. where the oil passageway meets the piston ring type seal on the turbine side it was completely incased in like petrified oil and the outside under the heat shield looks like weld spatter all over it but I think it will come off. I got most of the coked oil out of the bearing housing with a screwdriver and picks, hit t with a couple of rounds of engine degreaser followed by a round of brake parts cleaner and now its sitting in a can of kerosene atleast until tomorrow..
still going to have to buy a turbine wheel and shaft..
maybe someone here has a serviceable one? _________________ 80 Turbo - Slightly Modified |
