I have replaced 2nd gear dogteeth and synchro but still have grinding when shifting into 2nd. Seems like the shift sleeve does not engage the synchro ring properly...
Anyone know if it is normal to have to replace the 2nd/3rd shift sleeve or do I have some other issue with the gearbox? _________________ ______________________________

depends on how worn it was, sometimes you can get away with flipping it around but I replaced the shift sleeve, synchros and dog teeth...

What type of trans do you have?
What condition are all the engagement teeth in?
Can you turn the synchro while its pressed on the cone?
Are the keys or keyways worn?
When the synchro, hub & gear are assembled, do the tips of the teeth line up or stay off to the side at their closest point? |
