i broke the hair-like wire inside the fuel level sending unit (top of tank) ,
(for some reason other types of porsches' are much more affordable to replace) $100+ i just don't have
i was gonna try to micro solder a new wire if i could fine that fine a wire, but, who know if it would work then in the end
is the hair wire supposed to gradually touch more on one side when it rises- look slike they touch the same the whole way up .

anyone have a trick they've done?

I've used a float type of unit in other cars which have 2 wires coming out, and was considering riggin one to the existing shell of the old unit, but the 3 wires on teh old one look like one is a significant ground, not just a normal ground.

I just took mine apart the other day for cleaning. I wouldn't see why you couldn't get a piece of wire the same gauge and solder it in. what's the worse that can happen? You have to buy a new one anyway? Make sure you check the resistances of the wires to match it though.

These guys got a lot of used parts...

Don't open the unit. Pour somecleaning fluid in and shake it gently. Yes, the wires are very thin and prone to break. It might just be gummed up.
