So I suddenly needed to remove the brake drum today. Haynes told me it would be tough. What's 140 lb guy to do ?

Buy a 36 mm axle nut socket 1/2 drive.

Borrow the wrench shown here.

This little honey is a 48" pipe wrench and must weigh at least 35 Lbs. Note the size of my shoe compared to the wrench.

Not shown.. a 200 Lb guy that jumped on it 4 times before it cracked.

After that it was simply a 200 lb guy with a 2lb hammer and 5 minutes of pounding on the drum.

Easy when you know how (or get lucky) and have a big guy handy.

I use a six foot heavy steel pipe on the end of a 1/2" socket swivel.

Just to clarify, before I got this wrench I broke a Craftsman 1/2" bar with a pipe. It just snapped the end off. This was a last resort.

Ouch, bet that was a fun time. I will make a mental note to bust out the Impact for that.
The older they get... The more fun they are.

I had to use a impact rated 1000 ft-lbs of torque at 90psi cranked up to 125 psi to get the last one I did undone. I've lifted 924's right off the ground with a bar welded to a socket that I used to use. Fun fun.

Luckily there was a rural maintenace shop (tools for tractors) near me that had the 36mm socket with a big hole i could put a steel bar then an 8foot scafold pole on. Even then it required my 170lb dad and me with a hammer to get it loose on both sides :/

That is one manly pipe wrench there though!

I am 140lb and undone mine OK. Lift the car with a jack. Position the bar so that when you lower the car with the jack, the bar pusses against the ground and the weight of the car cracks the nut undone.

or just use the jack! (Shown here undoing wheel nut)
That was the easy bit, getting the drum off was the real nightmare.

NO, thats a big mistake.
After a collection of bent & broken handles, breaker bars and adapters realise it is best and cheaper to simply buy a 3/4" drive socket and bar the first time. Then add leverage/ pipe as required.

found footage

…I wouldn't use a Reversible Ratchet at first.
Start with a fixed socket or box wrench
and jump on that.
