Congrats! That's a good feeling, eh?

What weight of oil are you using?

Are you sure the stock gauge and sender are working properly? Did the oil pressure light go out?

Or are you using a mechanical gauge connected directly to the engine?

Was the filter and lines filled with oil along with the engine? Could just be air in the lines that you'll want to bleed off before running the engine much longer.

Pull the gauge and connect it directly to the sender wire with a jumper to ground/power.

Then I'd pull the coil wire and crank it until you get oil pressure.

You can also check for oil at the valve cover/valvetrain by opening the oil fill cap.

Ohhh, that sucks!

Curious to see the reason for your trouble.

Maybe it's as simple as putting the gasket in wrong (backwards/upside down, etc.)

Hopefully it's something simple and no major damage was done.

Its not off yet. I do have a couple of theorys tho. I am using the cometic gasket: 1: the gasket has 4 rivets that hold it together. the instructions said do not remove the rivets, and do not let the head sit on the rivets. in my case the head on the pass side is barely on the rivet in the back. no amount of moving the gasket around would fix that....so I left it. (I am thinking that this is the problem actually. 2: when I went to install the header, in the same area ass the rivet, the head gasket was sticking out, and the header would not bolt down because the gasket was in the way. In the gasket instructions, it said do not trim the gasket if it is sticking out. the only way to install the header and have it seal was to trim it *sigh*. Anyway, drained the oil and water this morning, and water and oil came out of the crank case. probably will not have time to do anything else today. GO SEAHAWKS!

Ok I figured out that I am an idiot. The gasket was on upside down So since I already imprinted the Cometic I installed the Victor Renz. I will put it back together this week.

I've heard that you can reuse them, I'd have just cleaned it up and put it in CORRECTLY and get back to it

Bummer. I recently installed one on my rebuild. I first laid it out on the block and noticed that some of the water jackets didn't quite line up with the gasket. Hmmmm, pulled the old one out and looked at the 'imprints', and figured I had it on upside down. Kinda easy to do if you just look at the one end and match it up with the gasket. Lines up the same either way!

Exactly! either way you lay it out on the block, the water jackets don't line up. I should have had a clue when the gasket was sticking out to far on the one side. also when I compared it to the head, it made more sense. The Victor Renz one is labeled so that if you can read, you cant get it wrong.

OK! got it fired up today. Let it warm up. boy it is LOUD with an open header! got brave, and backed out into the driveway. by this time, it was idling pretty good. so got brave again, and ran it up the street while sitting on the floor, and peeking out between the steering wheel and the dash
